Summary Company was not allowed to increase electricity tariff despite surge in oil prices.

Pakistan Electric Power Company (Pepco) Director General Muhammad Khalid on Tuesday said that the former government was responsible for the financial troubles in the company.Addressing the media in Lahore, Khalid said that the former government did not allow the company to increase electricity tariff despite the fact that oil prices were increased many-fold in the international market. He said that the government was giving Rs 1.50 per unit subsidy to the consumers. He said that suspension of gas supply to power units, including Faisalabad Power Plant, was increasing electricity shortfall as the country was facing three to 10 hours load shedding daily.
