Begging bowl: Pakistan to get $7.5 bn loan from Asian Development Bank

Summary $2.28 bn would be spent on uplift of energy sector.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News)- Contrary to the tall claims of breaking the begging bowl, Abbasi-led federal government is all set to receive mammoth $7.15 bn loan from Asian Development Bank (ADB) in the next three years.

According to details, ADB has issued country operations plan for the next three years. The aforementioned loan would be spend on projects related to energy, transport, education and health sectors.

$2.28 bn would be spent on energy sector, $1.76 bn for transport, $1.68 bn clean water and urban uplift projects, $1 bn for agriculture sector and rural uplift projects, $250 mln for education sector, $200 mln for Information Technology-related projects and $120 mln for health sector.

ADB would also provide funds for remodeling of canal system in Punjab and uplift of educational system in Sindh.
