Summary Foreign Direct Investment reached 940 million dollars with an increase of 74 percent
KARACHI: (Dunya News) – Overall investments in the country saw a drop of 50% during the current year compared to the last while Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) has increased by 74%, taking the total volume to 940 million dollars, reported Dunya News.
According to the statistics released by State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), China is the forerunner in the investments into Pakistan, investing 630 million dollars in various fields including energy projects from July to October 2017.
Moreover, foreign investors seem to be hesitating in investing their money in the stock market this year as they pulled investment shares worth 50 million dollars during the first 4 months of the current fiscal year.
While the government had sold bonds worth 1 billion dollars during the same period last year, no such measures have been taken during this year as yet. Therefore, investments last year this time stood at 1.64 billion dollars and they have been reduced to nearly half of the last year, standing currently at 830 million dollars.
