Summary Pak-afghan transit trade agreement has been suspended as the negotiations between the two countries came to a deadlock on the issue of bank guarantee.

Trade Secretary Zafar Mehmood told the media in a press conference that Pakistan sought a bank guarantee in the agreement. But Afghanistan refused to accept this condition, besides objecting the duty imposed on the Afghan goods moved through Sindh. The secretary said that biometric and tracking system would be installed to cut down the smuggling but the installation would take time.
