Parliamentary Committee has opposed the proposal of increasing the prices of petroleum products. Committee members said that the deficit should be met through other sources. Meeting of a special parliamentary committee about POL prices held in Islamabad in which it was told that Rs 12 billion deficit was incurred in December, January and February because POL prices were not increased. But committee members opposed hike in POL prices and were of the view that it should be fulfilled through other sources. Suhail Mansoor proposed to end levy and general sales tax on POL prices. Naveed Qamar said that final proposals would be prepared in the meeting on Jan 27.
