Export of onions to India couldnt start yet

Summary

Export of onions to India could not start because permit given by Prime Minister (PM) Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani was not reached to the officials at Wahgah Border. As per details, the PM had approved the summary sent to him by the ministry of commerce thereby permitting export of the staple to India under letter of credit. Following the approval, onion truckloads, currently stationed at Wahga border, would be able to move to India. Pakistan had slapped ban on exporting onions to India on December 24 after which the local markets had witnessed dip in onion prices. It may be recalled India had revoked import contract of Pakistani importers in the wake of hike in prices of cotton in international market.
