Corruption to be contolled for more investment, says US Envoy

US Ambassador to Pakistan Cameron Munter has said that until and unless the government controls the endemic corruption, increased investment would not be possible. Addressing the investors, members, board of directors and the traders during his visit to the Karachi Stock Exchange the US Envoy said that it is imperative that the elite strata should give taxes for their country. He also said that RGST Bill should get passed from the National Assembly as it would help increase the revenue of the country. The ambassador was of the view that Pakistan should control and overcome the deficit of many public sector organizations. Such organizations should be privatized. Cameron Munter said that many projects of Pak-US Energy are pending with the government of Pakistan that need to be passed as soon as possible. These projects also include a project of LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas). The ambassador further said that a US company would invest 370.50 million dollars for creating 150 megawatts of electricity alongwith a Pakistani company to fulfill the energy requirements of Pakistan.
