TOKYO (AFP) - Tokyo shares closed flat on Friday with concerns over a North Korean nuclear test offset by speculation that the Bank of Japan may expand stimulus measures.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 index inched up 0.04 percent, or 6.99 points, to close at 16,965.76, while the broader Topix index of all first-section issues fell 0.16 percent, or 2.09 points, to 1,343.86.
