The federal government has directed Trading Corporation of Pakistan to off-load 350,000 tonsof sugar stock to the market to end the artificial crisis.According to a spokesperson of federal government, crushing has been started in Sindhs sugar mills; where as the sugar mills in other parts of the country have been asked to immediately start crushing so that local sugar is available in the market within a month. The government has decided to off-load 350,000 tons of sugar to ensure smooth and ready accessibility of the commodity to the consumers. In accordance with the arrangement agreed upon by all the provincial governments, TCP will release 50% of its sugar stock to Punjab and remaining portion to other provinces on proportional basis at Rs. 56 per kilogram. The spokesman also told that after the release of sugar from the stocks by the Federal Government, supply of sugar to the consumers will become the responsibility of provincial governments.
