HONG KONG (AFP) - Shanghai stocks closed more than four percent higher on Wednesday as investors stormed into the market on hopes of further measures to stimulate the slowing economy, dealers said.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index jumped 4.26 percent, or 116.51 points, to 2,849.68.
The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China s second exchange, surged 4.70 percent, or 79.11 points, to 1,760.58.
In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng Index rose 3.07 percent, or 596.03 points, to 20,003.49.
