DERA ISMAIL KHAN (Dunya News) – Sugarcane farmers are forced to sell crop for Rs 155 per 40 Kilograms (Kg) despite price set by the government at Rs 180.

The farmers have no option but to sell the crop through middle man at Rs 155 per 40 Kg.

The locals have complained that sugar mills’ owners delay payments. The mills purchase the crop from adjoining areas and neglect the farmers in Dera Ismail Khan. It should be mentioned here that the city fulfills 70 percent demand of the province.

The dejected farmers are opting for other seasonal crops.

However, the district administration could use Section-144 and stop mills owners from purchase of sugarcane from other areas.
