HONG KONG (AFP) - Shanghai stocks ended more than one percent higher Tuesday as traders bet on further economic stimulus measures after data showed third-quarter growth at a six-year low.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index gained 1.14 percent, or 38.63 points, to 3,425.33, while the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China s second exchange, jumped 1.97 percent, or 38.84 points, to 2,008.48.

But in Hong Kong, the Hang Seng Index eased 0.37 percent, or 86.39 points, to 22,989.22.
