NEW YORK (AFP) - US stocks Wednesday opened lower after a report showed US private-sector job growth slowed in January.
Five minutes into trade, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 27.77 points (0.18 percent) to 15,417.47.
The broad-based S&P 500 lost 5.30 (0.30 percent) at 1,749.90, while the tech-rich Nasdaq Composite Index declined 13.59 (0.34 percent) to 4,017.93.
The US economy added 175,000 private-sector jobs in January, slowing from the 227,000 increase in December, payrolls firm ADP reported. Analysts had forecast the addition of 178,000 net new jobs last month.
The ADP report came ahead of Friday s January jobs data from the Department of Labor.
