Inflation rate, for the week ended on January 7, has reached at 16.92 percent. According to figures of Federal Bureau of Statistics, inflation rate increased by 2.2 percent as compared to last week while 16.92 percent increase was recorded as compared to the same period of last year. For the lowest income group up to Rs 3,000, the SPI for the week under review in the above mentioned group was recorded at 13.35 percent as compared to the value of previous week.For the income group up to Rs 5,000, inflation remained 17.35 percent while for income group up to Rs 12,000, inflation rate recorded at 17.45 percent.During the week under review average prices of 26 items registered increase, while that of 6 items decrease with the remaining 21 items prices unchanged.
