Cameron defends comments about Pakistan

UK Prime Minister David Cameron has defended his comments about Pakistan's record on tackling terrorism as he continued his trip to India. He said it was ‘important to speak frankly’ and while Pakistan had ‘made progress... we need them to do more’. His comments on Wednesday had led to him being accused of ‘damaging the prospects of regional peace’. David Cameron is due to meet his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh sometime today.
Talks between the two leaders in Delhi are expected to focus on trade and security. It follows the prime minister's warning to neighbouring Pakistan on ‘promoting the export of terror’. In an article for the Guardian, Pakistan's High Commissioner to the UK accused Mr Cameron of ‘damaging the prospects of regional peace’. On Wednesday, the prime minister told reporters after a speech in the southern Indian city of Bangalore that it was intolerable Pakistan should be allowed to ‘look both ways’. His remarks follow the leaking of US documents on the WikiLeaks website in which Pakistan's Inter Services Intelligence agency was accused of secretly helping the Afghan insurgency.
