Forest rangers rescue leopard in western India

Forest rangers rescued a leopard that had fallen into an open well in India's Gujarat state.

A leopard that had fallen into an open well in Jungarh district of Indias western Gujarat state was rescued by forest rangers. A rescue team of forest rangers was rushed to the spot.The leopard managed to stay afloat for 15 hours in the deep well before being lifted up.It was a 2 and half years old female leopard. It remained afloat in the well for an entire night. The rescue team was informed and we reached immediately. We managed to pull it out from the water, said Junagarhs Range Forest Officer, N. M. Jadeja.According to eyewitnesses the leopard was chasing a dog when it fell into the well. The dog did not suffer any injuries during the chase.The rescued leopard was shifted to districts animal care centre for medical treatment, and later released in the forest.
